अल्काराज़ को पहले सेट में आठ ब्रेक प्वाइंट बचाने पड़े, लेकिन उन्होंने केवल एक गेम गंवाया और दो बार खुद की सर्विस तोड़कर मैच में आगे बढ़ गए। मैच के बाद, अल्काराज ने कोर्ट से बाहर जाते समय ब्रिटिश खिलाड़ी की पीठ थपथपाई और उसके प्रदर्शन के सम्मान में उसे सलामी दी।

दो बार की चैंपियन पेट्रा क्वितोवा ने विंबलडन से विदाई लेते हुए संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका की एम्मा नवारो को हराया। क्वितोवा 10वीं वरीयता प्राप्त नवारो से 3-6, 1-6 से हार गईं।

Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champion, had to win a four-set match to reach the second round of Wimbledon due to a stomach problem. Second seed Carlos Alcaraz also reached the third round. But in the women’s category, the big contender for the title, American second seed Coco Gauff, had to face defeat in the first round itself. Top seed Arina Sabalenka won in a thrilling match.
Djokovic needed two doctor’s visits during his first round match because of a stomach problem but eventually managed to beat Alexander Muller 6-1, 6-7 (7), 6-2, 6-2.
Djokovic, who is vying for his 25th Grand Slam title, said after the match, “I had a stomach problem for 45 minutes but with the help of the miracle pills given by the doctors, I was able to regain my energy.”
At the same time, five-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz defeated world number 733 Ollie Tavent in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 and made it to the third round. Alcaraz had to save eight break points in the first set, but he lost only one game and broke twice himself to move ahead in the match. After the match, Alcaraz patted the British player on the back as he left the court and saluted him in honour of his performance.
On the other hand, Gauff’s streak of upsets continued on Tuesday and the strong contender for the women’s singles title, Gauff, also could not progress beyond the first round. She was defeated by Dayana Yastremska 7-6 (3), 6-1. Three-time Grand Slam champion Aryna Sabalecka defeated Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic 7-6 (4), 6-4 to advance to the third round of the women’s singles on Wednesday.
Two-time champion Petra Kvitova bid farewell to Wimbledon with a defeat against Emma Navarro of the United States. Kvitova lost 3–6, 1–6 against 10th seed Navarro.
